Two-year-old Daycare
Starting Points understands the need for two year olds to explore their surroundings in asafe manner. Two year olds are extremely lively and have plenty of energy. They need to be individually challenged and have a feeling of importance as well as security.
Starting Points helps children to flourish by balancing play and self-discovery with teacher directed activities. Two year old activities encourage self-expression through movement, music, creative arts, and dramatic play.
Starting Points uses the Tennessee Early Learning Development Standards to prepare engaging lesson plans. These standards form a framework that allows even the youngest child to develop to their fullest potential.
1. Approaches to Learning
Teachers provide hands-on age appropriate activities, toys, and interactions that support each child’s learning style. This not only helps with healthy brain development but also lets children approach learning with anticipation and excitement.
2. Social/Emotional
Teachers provide a safe and secure learning environment in order for the children to feel secure in exploring their environment. Planned activities and interactions help the children begin to develop an idea of who they are and how they fit into their world. They also begin to understand their emotions which lay a foundation for self-regulation. Teachers encourage positive interactions with others.
3. Language and Early Literacy
Teachers expose children to a language rich environment through conversations, books, and music. An emphasis is placed on expanding their vocabulary and using sentences to express their thoughts, ideas, and feelings.
4. Math
Teachers provide hands-on experiences that allow young children to use their senses to classify, categorize, and sort information so that it has meaning to them. Everyday experiences consist of children exploring objects and their similarities, size, shape, and texture.
5. Science
Teachers provide many sensory experiences (taste, touch, smell, looking, and listening) to foster children’s natural inclinations to learn about their world.
6. Social Studies
Teachers develop a relationship with the children so the children feel comfortable exploring their environment. Teachers help children to recognize and understand differences among people.
7. Creative Arts
Teachers provide fun activities that allow the children to express their ideas, feeling, and interests through art, music, dance, and dress up/role play.
8. Physical Development
Teachers provide a safe and healthy environment in which children can move and explore. They also provide opportunities to practice manipulating small objects (puzzles, blocks, crayons, etc.). Teachers encourage children’s awareness of daily routines. Children are guided and assisted in personal care routines (washing hands, using a spoon and cup, cleaning up, etc.).
Celebrating Over 20 years
There are no words to adequately express my gratitude for this daycare/preschool. They have loved and cared for my children beyond any expectation I had.
“I visited the daycare center a few months ago and was thoroughly impressed with how nice the place was. I was even informed they have preschool programs as well. I would definitely enroll my children. I recommend to have a visit of your own!”
A wonderful place to work where the staff really cares about the children and the quality of care they are given. It was the best job ever!
The school is so great! Nature, science, reading, writing centers and so many wonderful ways to learn around every corner. The teachers are just so amazing and wonderful with the children. My son has been in Miss Lynn’s class (go Mighty Moths) for little over a year now. He just turned 5 and has been writing and beginning to read for months now. He has learned so much educationally but also socially. So so happy he goes to Starting Points!
